In Portugal, the birth rate for adolescent females decreased by 28,8% between 2001 and 2007 (from 5,9% to 4,2%).

From 2004 to 2008, birth rate in adolescent women (age <20 years) / 1 live births in mainland Portugal decreased, from 5,1 to 4,2 (relative increase of 17,6%).
The Region which show greater negative deviations in relation to the value for mainland Portugal was, in 2004 as in 2008, Alentejo . The best values were registered in the Centro (3,6%).
