The percentage of schools presenting good health and safety standards increased by 12,5% between the 2002/2003 and 2005/2006 school years, from 64% to 72%.

During the 2005/2006 school year, Centro and LVT showed a positive variance in relation to the overall value for mainland Portugal. The other regions showed lower values (the lowest being 49% in the Alentejo).
