From the 2002/2003 school year to that of 2005/2006, the CPOD index (index of teeth lost, filled or with cavities) at age 12 decreased by 50%, from 3% to 1,5%.

During the 2005/2006 school year, LVT and Algarve showed a positive variance in relation to the overall value for mainland Portugal. The other regions registered upper values.
