From the 2002/2003 school year to that of 2005/2006, the percentage of 6-year-old children who had no tooth decay increased by 54,5%, from 33% to 51%.

During the 2005/2006 school year, LVT, Alentejo and Algarve showed a positive variance in relation to the overall value for mainland Portugal. Norte showed lower values (48%).
