The ratio between hospital emergencies and out-patient appointments in Portugal was 0,6 all over the period 2002-2007. To reach the 2010 target the ratio must decrease to 0,5.

There are relevant differences between regional values of the ratio hospital emergencies/out-patient appointments. During the period analyzed, Norte and Lisboa Regions presented ratios below national average. In the other Regions ratios were equal or above 0,7.
