The number of pharmacists per inhabitant, in Portugal, showed a relative increase of 40,8%, in the period 2000-2008, rising from 73,1 to 102,4 pharmacists per 100 000 inhabitants.

Between 2004 and 2008, the number of pharmacists per inhabitant increased in all Regions of Portugal. In the Region of Lisboa the ratio is much higher than the national average.

The ratio pharmacists/inhabitant showed positive trends in all Regions, for male as for female professionals, in the period 2004-2008.
