The number of medical appointments in Primary Health Care and in Hospitals, per inhabitant, increased slightly between 2004 and 2007: from 3,9 to 4,1 appointments per inhabitant and per year.

The number of medical appointments (PHC and Hospitals), per inhabitant, increased in all Regions, between 2004 and 2007. At Norte and Centro Regions the values of this indicator were the highest. The number of medical appointments, per inhabitant, at Algarve Region was below the national average.

In Portugal, on average, women had more medical appointments (in PHC and Hospitals) than men. During the period 2004-2007, this indicator exhibited only small variations, both for women and men.
