In mainland Portugal, the mortality rate for the 5-9 age group decreased by 45,0% (from 20,4 to 11,2 deaths per 100,000 of children of this age group), between 2004 and 2009.

In mainland Portugal, from 2004 to 2009, mortality rate for the 5-9 age group decreased by 35,9%, from 17,5%ooo to 11,2%ooo. This trend towards reduction was verified in all regions, except Alentejo.

In mainland Portugal, mortality rate for boys of the 5-9 age group, that was above 20%ooo at the beginning of the period of analysis, decreased to 12,2%ooo by 2009.
For girls of the same age group, mortality rate decreased from 14,7 to 10,2 deaths per 100,000 children, between 2004 and 2009.
