In Portugal, the Mortality rate for the 1-4 age group decreased by 39,7% between 2004 and 2008. This decrease was registered for males (41,6%) and for females (36,6%).

In mainland Portugal, from 2004 to 2008, the Mortality rate for the 1-4 age group decreased by 39,7%, from 30,2%ooo to 18,2%ooo. This trend towards reduction was verified in all regions. The regions with the sharpest reduction were Lisboa (55,8%) and Norte (41,8%). Algarve was the region with the smaller decrease (4,7%).

From 2004 to 2008, a reduction in the mortality rate for the 1-4 age group was verified in both genders (41,4% and 36,7%, respectively). In 2004, the regions whith a higher rate were Algarve, for males, and Alentejo, for females. In this year, the lowest values were registered in Alentejo, for males, and in Norte, for females.
In 2008, Algarve was once again the region with the highest rate for males, and Centro for females.
