During the analysis period life expectancy of infants with 1 to 4 years showed a positive trend. Between 2002-2004 and 2006-2008, life expectancy at this age increased from 73,7 to 75,0 years (1,3 years) for boys and from 80,1 to 81,2 years (1,1 years) for girls.

Life expectancy from 1 to 4 years increased in all Regions, between 2002-2004 and 2006-2008. Increasing was higher in Lisboa and Norte (1,4 and 1,3 years, respectively) and lower in Regions in the south of Portugal (0,9 years in Alentejo and 0,6 years in Algarve).

In the period 2002-2004 to 2006-2008, life expectancy of infants with 1 to 4 years increased more in Lisboa (1,6 years for boys and 1,3 years for girls) than in the other Regions. In all Regions life expectancy increased more for boys than for girls.
