Intra-hospital lethality from CVA (Cardiovascular Accidents) has been generally diminishing (with a reduction of 2,6% from 2004 to 2007). The relative reduction was more pronounced in males (4,1%) than in females (0,6%).

From 2004 to 2007, intra-hospital lethality from CVA decreased slightly in mainland Portugal (2,6%), from 15,5% to 15,1%. All regions showed a reduction, especially the Algarve, where intra-hospital lethality from CVA decreased by 13,3% between 2004 and 2006. However, between 2006 and 2007i ntra-hospital lethality from CVA increased in Algarve 8,9%.

From 2004 to 2007, there was a reduction in intra-hospital lethality from CVA in both genders, though higher in females, in both periods. The Algarve was the region where this inequality was more pronounced in 2007.
