The foetal mortality rates in mainland Portugal, between 2004 and 2008 registered a decrease of 13,5%, although between 2004 and 2006 there was a slight increase.

From 2004 to 2008, the foetal mortality decrease in mainland Portugal, from 3,7%o to 3,2%o.
Only Algarve showed  a increase from 4,0 in 2004 to 4,6 in 2008 .  The most positive values were to be found in Norte, for both years.

The foetal mortality rate, verified for the mainland, registered an decrease from 2004 to 2008 only for males(-25,6%). Both in 2004 and 2008, the Alentejo and Algarve Regions were the ones showing the highest rates, for males and females respectively
