In Portugal, caesarean sections reached 35,6 per 100 live births, in 2007. This value represents a relative increase of 8,4%, from 2004 to 2007.
This indicator is diverging from 2010 target.

From 2004 to 2007, the caesarean birth rate in mainland Portugal increased by 8,4%, from 32,8% to 35,6%. Norte stood out, both in 2004 and 2007, as showing the highest values in mainland Portugal (36,7% in 2004 and 40,2% in 2007), whereas the Alentejo showed the lowest values for both years (21,7% and 22,2%).
