Between 2004 and 2008, the mortality rate for the 45-64 age group in Portugal decreased by 5,0%. There was a higher decrease in female (8,2%) than in males (3,4%)

From 2004 to 2008, the mortality rate for the 45-64 age group in mainland Portugal decreased by5%, from 534,0%ooo to 507,5%ooo. This reduction was registered in all regions. In 2008, Algarve and Alentejo Regions registered the highest values both in 2004 and 2008, and Norte and Centro the lowest.

From 2004 to 2008, the mortality rate for the 45-64 age group in mainland Portugal decreased for both males and females.
The Alentejo and Algarve were the regions that registered the highest values for males and females in 2004 and 2008. On the other hand, Centro and Norte displayed the lowest mortality rates for the 45-64 age group.
